NBA 2019-2020 season

Post by Puns » Fri Oct 18, 2019 11:26 pm

I’m so excited for this nba season to finally start!!!!

This has been the most fun offseason I can ever remember as an avid nba fan. So many big names switching teams, so many crazy changes in the landscape, so many huge storylines. Kawhi Leonard leafing the Raptors to their first nba championship and immediately leaving for the LA Clippers and will be teaming up with Paul George. Lebron missed his first playoff appearance since 2005. The Lakers finally getting Anthony Davis. And Boogie, but he unfortunately got hurt. KD tore his Achilles’ tendon AND left the Warriors. Klay Thompson rearing his acl. Those two moves will have such a massive effect on the face of the nba. It feels like the Warriors dynastic era has ended, at least until Klay comes back. They also lost Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston. They did pick up D’Angelo Russell though, who is just coming off the bets year of his career and his first all star selection, so that’ll help. Kyrie Irving left Boston for Brooklyn. Derrick Rose (my favorite player) is gonna be playing in Detroit. Looking forward to see what he can do playing with two monster bigs like Blake Griffin and Andre Drummond. Jimmy Butler went to Miami! Russell Westbrook went to the Rockets and Chris Paul to the Thunder.

This season is gonna be crazy. It feels like everything, East and west, is wide open for the first time in a loooooooong time. It’s not gonna be the Warriors in the Finals and it feels so incredibly refreshing. It was fun seeing them pre-KD, and now that he’s gone I can go back to enjoying them. Having him on the team was just fucking overkill. It’ll be fun to go back to being able to enjoy Steph Curry again. It was hard to appreciate him with KD on the team, because adding an mvp to a team with the first ever unanimous mvp and the all time winningest single season team in history with a 73-9 record that just was a single game from winning a championship is just hard to want to see succeed.

The Bulls are probably gonna suck again this season. They’ll be better than last year because of the addition of Otto Porter and Lauri Markannen with another season on his resume. Plus Wendell Carter Jr is gonna be back from injury and he seems like he’s got some serious potential.

How bout Pascal Siakam and Fred Van Vleet both dropping 34 in the season opener last night against the Pelicans? That was a pretty close game too.

I fell asleep during the Lakers/Clippers game. Kawhi dropped 30 on them hoes in route to victory.

I have a feeling this thread is going to just be me talking to myself because Adam is never around anymore.

I watched the Denver/Portland game the other night and it was a blast. It's the first nba game I've watched in forever as it's just gotten so meh with it always being the same "power" teams. This offseason really opened the league up to so many possible contenders that anyone can lose on any given night.

I love it! It doesn’t feel like the entire season is a foregone conclusion. It isn’t definitely gonna be a Lebron led team in the East vs the Warriors. After 5 years of the Warriors in the Finals it’s so great to have so many legitimate contenders out there.

Trey Young for the Hawks rolled/sprained his ankle tonight. I hope he’s alright, he’s a lot of fun to watch. Dude can flat out score. He’s the #2 leading scorer so far this season behind Kyrie.

And in the continuing tragedy that is the 2019-2020 Warriors’ season Steph Curry broke his hand and will be out for 3 months.

Draymond Green hurt a ligament in his finger and is hurt. D’Angelo Russell sprained his ankle. The Warriors have the worst luck as of late.

Gordon Hayward matching his career high makes me hopeful this is him returning to his pre injury Utah Jazz form.

Rip Kobe. One of the all time greats. We are lucky to have lived while he played to witness his legacy first hand. I feel horrible for his family.

Are you guys watching The Last Dance? I’ve already watched the first 2 episodes three times lol. An old, shut-in 90’s head like myself can’t get enough of it.

ive watched the first 4 episodes. its really really good. i was in unversity during the second bulls championship run. i remember certain things about that era, but lots of things are new to me. i remember in high school, it was the first bulls run, so much bulls merch in school. and this is Canada before we had an NBA team.

I’ve loved this! I can’t believe they’ve had this footage for over 20 years and just now releasing it. Excellent stuff.

Am I crazy or was basketball more fun in the 90s, because it looks that way from a total outsider.

Anybody watching the relaunch so far? I’m watching the Lakers vs Toronto game right now. Low scoring first half but fun to watch! Oh yeah, I’m trying to be a basketball fan again. Between The Last Dance and being impressed by the way the NBA handled their restart plan, I wanted to check it out.

Celtics defeat the Sixers in the first round 4-0. Brutal. I expect Brett Brown to be tired and likely major trades during the offseason to address the issues they’ve had all season with spacing the floor. You can’t have Joel Embiid and Al Horford both in the paint clogging up the lane. They made huge mistakes over the last two years letting go of Jimmy Butler, JJ Redick, Marco Bellinelli and Ersan Ilyasova. They need shooters around Embiid. The lack of depth hurt them a lot, as did inconsistent play from what appears to be a very out of shape Joel Embiid along with constant injuries to Embiid and Simmons. Losing Simmons was a massive blow because his court vision and defense are excellent and you just can’t replace someone like him.

I’m looking forward to seeing what the Celtics can do from here.

Really hoping the Heat stay in it. They are a scrappy team and have the better chemistry, IMO..
