I'm attending RAW on Monday and one of the matches booked so far is Misterio vs. Gran Metalik. Vince McMahon Sr would not approve!
I wish I were going! I’ll be in Puerto Rico. Bummed to be missing the shows at MSG.
Don't worry, they'll be back in ten years!

I just tuned in as Mysterio vs Gran Metallik started. Good match! Looks like WWE beat AAA to delivering Lucha Libre to MSG!

I thought for sure Austin was going to get Fiended there. It seemed heavily implicated in the Firefly Fun House.

I’m not surprised he didn’t. Honestly, Austin gets a pass from fans even though he’s refused to put people over as much as Hogan has. He literally went home when asked to work with Eddie Guerrero and Brock Lesnar, respectively. Can anyone point to anyone Austin actually put over? I guess Jericho arguably but who else really?

So in short, I never expected Austin to put Wyatt over tonight. Uh-uh.

I though Austin wanted to work with Eddie.

But who did Austin ever really put over long term?

Mankind at Summerslam 99? But that was technically only to get the title onto HHH the next night so I dunno if it even counts. Kane at the 98 KOTR? I dunno, he won the title back immediately the following night. He helped The Rock in his ascension to the top but Austin was always the #1 guy. When The Rock finally got his win over Austin at Wrestlemania 19 he was already cemented as an all time great, didn’t need the win and it turned out to be Austin’s final match. Austin is one of the most protected guys in wrestling history.

In this case I think Meltzer was right that you don’t want Austin to be one of those guys like Foley who always comes in to get beat up. Plus if you did that thing with Bray, the heat would be on everyone wanting to see Austin get his revenge, instead of on Seth or on Strowman getting revenge for him. And since Austin is never going to wrestle you don’t want to tease something like that and not deliver it.

Even though they did kind of tease it on Firefly Fun House, and on Bray’s Twitter apparently.

Y2J
HHH
Kane
Angle

Maybe Y2J, I can agree with that one.

Puns already pointed out why Kane doesn’t work in this case.

I loved the feud with Angle in 2001 but Austin was the winner in that. He didn’t put Angle over.

Triple H? I love their feud but Triple H was already over. Hell he was already a former world champion by then.

Austin was indeed one of the most protected guys in history.

I don't agree with Y2J simply because both Austin and Y2J have said that that decision was based on noone expecting Y2J to be the one to walk out winner of the belts and Austin's side was to start the nWo stuff, hell Jericho even tapped to the Walls of Jericho during the No Way Out match while the ref was down.

So that was more right place right time for Jericho.

He did lose to Jericho twice though. Rock did too.

Man they really did put Jericho over a ton just to have him lose to Triple H.

I still think Austin overall career wise is nowhere near Hogan. I mean look at him pre Stone Cold.

I enjoy Stunning Steve more than Stone Cold.

I don't know if that's a fair comparison though. You look at Hogan before he became wwf hogan and it's basically the same as pre stone cold. The Vince Machine just does what it does.

Agree. But that’s part of my point. Hogan was upper card/main event status damn near his whole career. Austin wasn’t.
