Yeah, the older I get the more I like bands I hated growing up.

I was a little too young to get into them when they were originally starting out. I of course knew the songs Would? Rooster, Man in the Box, Down in a Hole, the radio hits. I never got anything outside of their greatest hits until 2020. When COVID hit, I decided to check out their discography out of pure curiosity. They really have a lot of great stuff. Their deep cuts are great, too.

Haha you ought to check em out, dude! If you don’t like em I’ll send you $1!Iamspiderman wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:21 pmI couldnt name or pick out one of their songs for you if my life depended on it.
If you do check em out, listen to the song Would? or Rooster first. They’re two of their biggest hits and are easily two of their most recognizable songs. I’d love to hear your opinion!
Didn’t Tommy Dreamer use Man in the Box as his ECW theme song? Also, remember Shane Hagadorn? They did his ROH theme song, Hate to Feel too.

I have Boggy Depot and Degradation Trip! Jerry Cantrell is so great. And I saw a video just the other day from around the time of Degradation Trip and you can tell he was way whacked out pretty bad on drugs or booze during the time. He was so thin and gaunt and looked really unhealthy. Glad he was able to turn it around and didn’t end up like Layne Staley and Mike Starr. It’s kind of mind blowing when you realize how many of those grunge era dudes who were completely destroyed by heroin. Shit is so incredibly dangerous.ICEMAN KING PATSON wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 7:15 pmThey're the best band of the 90s, and it's not even close. Jerry's solo stuff is great too, check that out if you can.

That shit affects everything, down to the ability to perform. I always felt Scott Wieland's vocals degraded the heavier he got into drugs.Puns wrote: ↑Thu Nov 03, 2022 11:21 pmI have Boggy Depot and Degradation Trip! Jerry Cantrell is so great. I had the first few albums. I was into the better nu metal bands at the time. It doesn't hold up, like most of the nu metal at the time. My buddy Mike is still accurate in saying that the first time he heard them on the radio he thought it was a Will Ferrell skit and not an actual band.

The only album I still own that could be considered "nu metal" is Deftones White Pony. And calling that nu metal is a massive stretch by that point, they were dipping their toes into sounds you'd hear on an ISIS album at that point.ICEMAN KING PATSON wrote: ↑Fri Aug 04, 2023 2:46 pmI had the first few albums. I still like SOAD. Chop Suey, Aerials, Toxicity, BYOB and a few others are still in my playlist rotation. I saw them live back in 2005 and had an incredible time. The Mars Volta opened for them and blew my mind. I’d never heard of them at the time and the guitar player soloed his ass off while the singer danced like a white James Brown with a red afro. It was awesome.
