I have a friend who has had a rough go of it the last year or so between love life and work life. We are there for each other through everything. Highs and lows. We don't have many true friends to turn to anymore on this level. An important point, that friend is a girl and we're both single. And over the last 2 months specifically, he work life has taken a bad turn with her boss announcing shes leaving and making her life a living hell in the process.

I'm trying to be there and be supportive of her but lately it's been really hard to talk with her anymore. All she talks about is this work drama and is talking in circles alot about it. I give her advice and she doesn't take it. I feel like I've fallen into a bad rhythm and role with her where I want to be a good friend and be there for her cause I know she is hurting work wise but what else can I really do but listen? I hate to be that "damn, thats crazy" and "oh wow" kinda guy with my replys but I have nothing new to add or contribute to what she is saying.

What to y’all think about the possibility of Atlantis being an actual advanced society that was destroyed and not some sort of allegory of time conquering even the greatest of civilizations? Plato wrote about Atlantis as a place that actually, factually once existed in his book the Critias. I believe the Atlanteans were probably responsible for things we have no true answer for archaeologically and technologically, like the building of the pyramids, the incredible bond-free, massive, hundred tons blocks making up megalithic walls throughout the ancient world, the fact that there are many different religions with creators who show up with technology that helped turn pastoral societies into civilizations, domestication of animals and extremely advanced systems of irrigation. I believes the people who we now know as the ancient Egyptians inherited the pyramids following some sort of global cataclysm about 12,500 years ago aka the Younger Dryas Impact Theory causing The Deluge, Noah’s biblical flood and ark narrative, Utnapishtim’s Preserver of Life and flood story from the Epic of Gilgamesh. There are similar stories of tsunamis destroying civilizations ranging from aboriginal Australians, Ancient pre-Inca, pre-Maya, pre-Olmec Middle and South American civilizations, ancient Greeks, Canaanites, Mesopotamians, Egyptians, etc.

We don’t and I fear we cannot know the answer to so many of the ancient mysteries, either because the answers are purposefully obfuscated or lost to the sands of time. Ancient history starts a long, long time ago and the victors always wrote the history. Throughout our collective word history there have been so many civilizations intent on complete and total annihilation or their foes and their beliefs that much more of what is true will never be heard from again.

I know this is going to sound like I'm trying to be funny, but I'm not. The answer to most ancient mysteries is probably aliens, at least travelers from if not far outer space, another time or dimension.

Would you consider gods to be inter dimensional beings also, Icy? Or what has come to be know as “gods” in one way or another? Like, they must be, right? If they’re able to see us and we aren’t able to see them, we MUST be separated by a dimensional barrier.

How about spirits, both benevolent and malevolent? Could be referred to as ghosts or demons or angels or by whatever name. One person’s freedom fighter is someone else’s terrorist so one person’s vile demon could be another’s protector. I think it’s more a perspective thing than we’ve ever been told.

I would accept that Heaven is a "higher" dimension, and Hell is a "lower" dimension than the plane of existence we currently live on, yes. The laws of physics tell us energy cannot be created or destroyed... that of us that is not physical MUST therefore travel somewhere. I could see ghosts being that energy that did not make the journey.

Gods were aliens or time travelers or whatever and became "gods" because they could do what the people at the time couldn't.

1. You can't tell me in this huge huge huge galaxy, universe, space place that we're the one planet that got lucky and boom smart people.

2. With the technology so far advanced from the first moon landing, there's a damn reason we haven't been back since 1972 50 fucking years ago!!!!!

I’m willing to bet the Anunnaki were aliens who brought a nomadic, pastoral hunter gatherer society the knowledge of agriculture, irrigation, architecture, smithing, etc after they witnessed whatever cataclysm caused the great flood/deluge and felt bad for the remaining people who survived the flood and whatever it was that caused it.

I'm pretty disgusted with myself. Flipped out on one after hours overseas customer service guy then flipped out on the dude he transferred me to. Not either of them's fault for what the company did, and not within either of their power to do anything about it. Though the second guy was kind of a dick so maybe I don't feel so bad about flipping out on him. I was much harder on him anyway.

Do you feel like it's harder to keep your cool over even trivial things? I feel like I struggle to remain calm more these days than I would have 10 years ago. Also, my anxiety and depression struggles have grown as I get older. I know it's a combination of things, dissatisfaction with work, lack of time to myself, financial struggles, trying to navigate through years of clutter that's taking over the house, poor diet, and just watching the world in general fall apart slowly. I freeze up a lot of times now and can't even being myself to do things I enjoy like watch movies and read and then beat myself up for wasting time I could have been doing that stuff or I get caught up cleaning as there is so much to do all the time in a cluttered home. Sorry for rambling here, I've been considering some options to help alleviate some of these issues just getting it off my chest

I mean I'm probably more chill now than I've been at any point in the last 15 years, but that's not saying a whole lot.I feel like I can still go from 0 to Raging Psycho in under 15 seconds, but that's kind of always been there. I have to work at recognizing things that set me off and try to catch myself in those few seconds.

With the situation you are under I'm glad that you hold things together as well as you do. Don't sell yourself short, you have crazy challenges I can't even imagine and you're still going. Nothing wrong with venting.

The word γραβάτα is Greek for tie. Is it pronounced gra-va-ta and is the origin for the word cravat, which is a wrestling maneuver in which you use your arms to apply a human necktie to your opponent.

I'm pretty sure I out assholed myself! I fired a veteran on memorial day weekend. Honestly he left me no choice. He called out yesterday morning at 858 for a 9am shift and then came in today at 355 to tell me he wouldn't be able to come in for his 4p shift.

Fuck yeah, Keith!

Does serving in the military actually have any positive connotations anymore? America has ceased to be the global ambassador of virtue that we were following the “defeat of the Nazis” in world war 2 and have been the global baddies since at least 1953. We’ve killed our own President, overthrown the only democratically elected leader in the history of Iran and by doing so, led them into the theocratic right wing dictatorship they’re currently suffering through, have opposed other countries rights to govern themselves by constantly interfering with any left wing governments or any left wing revolutions, we constantly put impose tariffs on countries for hypocritically doing the exact same thing that we do, we have committed some of the most egregious crimes against humanity that the world has seen this side of the Holocaust. Our military basically exists to protect the interest of the capitalist class by using the expendable working class to do their bidding without questioning their actions.

This is how I see things involving the military. I’d love to know if you all disagree because by point of view is not the only point of view. I’m an anti-capitalist because I view the entire thing as only begetting more violence, more love of money, more greed and avarice and those things are antithetical to my own personal life’s views, morals and philosophy.

Coming from a Veteran Keith, if he can't follow the guidelines/responsibilities of the job he was hired for, you did what was necessary. Calling out just minutes before each shift is unacceptable, in spite of him being a Veteran.

It has been a nightmare weekend. I woke up suddenly Thursday night/early Friday morning throwing up and having severe diarrhea. It knocked me out so bad that I could barely stay awake for 2 days and could only hold down crackers. I finally started feeling better late Saturday so I went back to work Sunday and yesterday but now Jacen has it and it's way worse on him. His is so severe it's causing rashes and it hurts for him to walk. Last night was the first night he's slept through the night in days as I've been using medicine heavily to try and treat him. So I'm hoping he's turning the corner finally.
