So prevailing thought is that Thirteen will regenerate back to Ten for some kind of unfinished business and choose to regenerate again via the 24 hour rule?

BBC has referred to him as 14 following the regeneration so it'll be interesting to see what happens in the 60th year specials to get to the actual Doctor.

Power of the Doctor was not a great episode. May have been Chibnall's best episode but that's quite the low bar. Happily he did not shit all over the history of Doctor Who again. He actually did a lot of fan service and nostalgia. Enjoyed seeing many cameos from Classic Doctors. Enjoyed seeing 5 and 7 getting a proper goodbye with their Teagan and Ace.

Also on a side note. Fox Network needs to apologise to Doctor Who.. for that awful TV movie. Paul McGann... again for his one episode as the 8th Doctor being that fucking awful TV movie. And lastly Sylvester McCoy for that awful way they killed poor 7.

I enjoyed how when 13 renegerated into 14. the clothing changed. Which should lead to something interesting. And I know it's cheesy but when 14 does regenerate the last line has to be either... I STILL DON"T WANT TO GO!!!!! or.... I AM READY TO GO.

Apparently as part of the Disney+ deal they are going to invest into the show to get the budget up to par with premium genre television.

I’m just glad to be able to watch new episodes next year. Now if they load up Classic on there…

Agree on your take of Power for the most part, though I probably enjoyed it more than you did. Disagree on the TV movie, for a 90s major US Network take on Who it's not terrible, I wouldn't have minded a season on Fox, but I guess it's for the best as we might not have gotten a revival if it happened. Love McGann as 8, mostly due to his Big Finish stuff but I thought he was great in the TV movie too, so what do I know.

Big Finish just announced a big 60th Anniversary story to run from May to November next year:

"The Time War. The Doctor has been injured and brought to a Time Lord field hospital. His body glows with energy, but this is no regeneration into a future form - instead, the Doctor’s past faces begin to appear as he flits haphazardly between incarnations...

Staggering to his TARDIS, the Doctor sets out to solve the mystery of his ‘degeneration’. Who has done this to him? How? And why? From the Earth to the stars, across an array of familiar times and places, he follows clues to retrace his steps, encountering old friends and enemies along the way. Tumbling through his lives, the Doctor must stop his degeneration before he loses himself completely...

Doctor Who – Once and Future stars Tom Baker, Peter Davison, Colin Baker, Sylvester McCoy, Paul McGann, Christopher Eccleston and David Tennant, with dozens more guest cast still to be revealed."

You can tell Russell T Davies is back when news of a classic companion rejoining the series breaks.

Russell T Davies coming back to Doctor Who feels like catching up with an old friend and you just pick right back up where you left off without skipping a beat. I've loved the 2 specials so far!

Im surprised there hasn't been more blowback from the more toxic members of the fandom to 14 being outed as gay in the second special.

They're still too busy being upset about Donna's daughter being non-binary.

Don't know how I feel about going
the 2 Doctors route again.
.

Seems a bit...noncommittal to a new Doctor?

I want to like this new direction but so far...it may be worse than Chibnall's run.

Ncuti is already better than Jodie in a handful of appearances (at least he is making an effort to make a unique personality for the Doctor) and Ruby (Rose ordered on Temu) is likable enough, but holy hell, RTD really seems to be making a show to entertain himself and try to get as far from the vibe the show had for decades, even under his previous run. Three episodes with the new Doctor in and already two big musical numbers, along with an overabundance of whimsey and straight up hamming and multiple breaks of the 4th wall. The tone just feels way off, like it's the opposite direction of Chibnall which was too dark and self serious at times, this is trying to break the cuteness or silly meter every episode. At least next week's episode looks a little more serious and I'm hoping Moffat back as just a writer and not having to coordinate an overly complicated overarching narrative will deliver.

It's all the worst instincts of RTD's first run combined with modern Disney made by committee horseshit.

Boom was the best episode of Who since Capaldi and Moffat left. Proof positive that the problems with this Series/Season is all down to RTD being a shit writer. Same as Chibnall but wackier. If only he'd stay as Showrunner but didn't write any episodes we'd have something.
