Random thoughts from deep in the mind
This is an example post in your phpBB3 installation. Everything seems to be working. You may delete this post if you like and continue to set up your board. During the installation process your first category and your first forum are assigned an appropriate set of permissions for the predefined usergroups administrators, bots, global moderators, guests, registered users and registered COPPA users. If you also choose to delete your first category and your first forum, do not forget to assign permissions for all these usergroups for all new categories and forums you create. It is recommended to rename your first category and your first forum and copy permissions from these while creating new categories and forums. Have fun!
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Thanks Creep for working on this. I missed the board.
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Thanks for your hard work and patience Creep. Thought I might return for a little bit.
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Geez I would have told Puns to break the board a lot sooner if it meant Mark coming back!
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Does someone have a way of telling Puns we're back?
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Hey guys...honestly I wish I had just done this weeks ago. Turned out that the new hosting company made it SUPER easy to set up a phpbb. Once I buckled down and decided to do the work I clicked a few buttons and it was good to go a few short minutes later.
Now I feel even lazier...but thanks all for your patience. I was really hopeful I could restore the old board, but shit happens I guess.
I hope to (plan to) make manual backups of the database on a monthly basis and will work on doing automatic backups if at all possible so this NEVER happens again.

Re: Random thoughts from deep in the mind
I'm not sure if the number I have for Puns is still good as it's been forever since I've talked to him.
Adam, something in the files went kablooey on the old host site.

I mean if anyone has access to the two year old archive of the board I could start copying and pasting things (LBCW, GOAT lists, things like that).

What did you do!?!?!?!Iamspiderman wrote: ↑Wed Feb 21, 2018 11:27 amI hit him up and told him that we have a new bin up and running.![]()
Re: Welcome to phpBB3
Specifically? Hostgator, the old company that housed the board (which I pay for, mind you) fucked me...
They never gave me a firm answer on what happened or how it happened, but one day the board was working, the next day the database connection was broken...
THEN, the database connection was back, but shit was missing. I went into the database and found that some of the tables (which contained shit like users and posts) were simply gone. I went to Hostgator and asked for backups...they provided backups, but the backups were also incomplete.
So basically, somehow Hostgator fucked up the database that houses the board and we couldn't get it back because they managed to lose it...and I wasn't handling my own backups. Pain in my ass.

Re: Random thoughts from deep in the mind
Just to help me and others out, who are some of these new names I don't recognize:
Monday Night Rollins
KevinBox
Novikfiell
Elinorhauth
PopPunkSean
KerubK
Tanafiell
Stacyinatt
Obviously most kept their OG names but I could see some changed 'em as well so I thought I'd ask.

Re: Random thoughts from deep in the mind
As I posted elsewhere, we didn't get the house we were looking to rent. We both wanted the extra space for Jacen and ourselves so we could breathe a bit after spending years in a duplex squished up on top of each other. It was a longshot anyways with Sherry trying to get the rent reduced by $100 less a month for the place (and if there's one thing about people in this area, they sure do overvalue their property, used vehicles are way overpriced around here as well). One thing this has taught me is that I'm going to have to get out of retail if I'm going to be able to support my family financially better than scraping by paycheck to paycheck.
